Again, I
took pictures of doors – they spoke to me. One was of a door with the depiction
of Jesus at the door – very ornate and intricately carved. It was simply a door
into a suite of apartments. Another door was representative of a yearly
tradition. Every year at the New Year, children go about a mark doors in chalk
with C + M + B and the new year. The
initials stand for the names of the three Wise Men: Caspar, Melchior, and
Balthasar. The markings are left all
year and are meant to bring good luck and blessings to the houses that are
marked.
