Prague (Part 4)

While wandering a park a ways from the Charles Bridge, Barry discovered a variety of modern art hidden away behind trees or around corners that were not obvious. A group of crawling, faceless babies stood 8 -9 feet tall, red horses bounded through parks, and yellow penguins lined the river.
An unexpected and unannounced treat. We found all through our trip that stumbling upon art of all kinds in unexpected places was a common occurrence. We delighted in it.

Art is not treated 'special' nor confined to galleries and museums. Even the art on government buildings was common-place. A short ways from our hotel was a row of government buildings. The Ministry of Agriculture was recognizable by the Greek-style statues representing the plenty of the fields.

We also found interesting juxtaposition between 'high' art and the art of the street. The graffiti through a long tunnel next to the government ministries was rife with the most beautiful graffiti I've ever seen. It was especially interesting against the Hotel Opera!
